October and Pumpkins!

I cannot believe that it is October already!  I’m missing the fall and the changing of seasons. Here in Guayaquil it feels like summer and its only getting hotter and more humid.  eeekkk!

To get in the mood for October I’m keeping my eyes open for pumpkins to bring home to my host family….. and then to carve! I thought it would be a great way to introduce a little bit of American culture while doing something that I love.

So far I havent found any orange pumpkins….only dark green.  Those might have to do!

I will be traveling south to Cuenca, Ecuador to celebrate Halloween. Cuenca is a beautiful historic city in the south of Ecuador (Dad recently informed me that it is one of the most popular retirement places in the whole world).   I cant wait to explore the city and to meet up with other Peace Corps volunteers that I haven’t seen for over two months !!

T-minus 19 days till Cuenca and Halloween weekend!!

Speaking of American culture…..

HOW ABOUT THOSE GIANTS!!!

I am so excited the SF Giants have clinched the NL West title. Our 1st playoff win in 8 years…its about time!! I have been glued to ESPN GameCast during the games to stay on top of what is going on. Boy do I miss summer baseball and going to AT&T Park to watch the games with the family!

Congrats San Francisco!!   let’s go all the way!!!    : )
